Protect Your Family: Buying a Child Locator or Pool Alarm Online
77
Although I don't have toddlers, I come from a huge family with a lot of little kids running around and I know how difficult it is for parents to keep track of little ones, especially when they start walking (and then running!) all over the place to explore.
Taking kids to public places can be a difficult predicament deciding how much independence and freedom to give younger children. You want to let them play, but also need the peace of mind that they are nearby - crowded places like malls and sporting events are especially difficult. It just takes a minute for a young child to get distracted and lose their parents in a crowd.
Another concern is pools and lakes - letting children play around any body of water is a concern because of the fear of drowning. Especially when lots of kids are playing around together or if your child is not a strong swimmer, your child might not realize the danger of getting too close to the edge of a pool or lake.
Please find below a variety of child locator devices and pool alarms that will work with children of different ages - fun, teddy bear themed locators for toddlers and young children to cool looking watches for older children who have permission to go a little further, but don't want to have some lame charm on their belt.
Mommy I'm Here Child Locator
This precious teddy bear locator works up to 150 feet and is perfect for younger children because the teddy bear (the locator) attaches to your child's shoe or belt. So cute! The receiver is a little bulky so your child will need to be wearing tie shoes or a belt. If you need to locate your child, simply push the button on your keychain transmitter and then teddy bear receiver beeps loudly so you can instantly locate your child. This locator features long-life batteries and is water resistant.
Giggle Bug Toddler Tracker
Another cost effective option, the Giggle Bug is also great for toddlers because of its fun design. The Giggle Bug works up to 100 feet indoors and 150 feet outdoors. This model clips onto your child's clothing and, similar to other child locators, the parent keeps a transmitter and pushes the button when a child is lost. The receiver on the child emits a 90 db sound until he or she is located - it will also sound if the bug is taken off their clothing to ensure that your child has it clipped on their shirt the whole time you are out.
LOK8U NUM8 Child Locator GPS Watch
This watch is a great alternative for older children because the receiver, the actual watch, is a more mature and sophisticated design. This watch cannot be removed or deactivated without the parent being alerted immediately. Instead of a transmitter, the GPS watch alerts the parent via phone and computer. The parent is able to set safety zones and will be alerted in their child goes out of those areas. So, if you tell your child he can only bike up to the end of your street, this watch will ensure he doesn't try to make a break for his friend's house two blocks away!
First Alert Aqua Alert Safety Band
This is another type of child locator that is great for families with pools or other bodies of water nearby. The leading cause of death for children under 15 in the US is drowning so this band is an important safety measure to take if your children have access to any water. The 110 db alarm can be heard up to 100 feet away and the bracelet cannot be taken off. The alarm is activated as soon as the device is submerged in water so this will give you peace of mind while on a lake trip or just hanging out in the backyard around the pool.
Safety Turtle Swimming Pool Alarm
This is another portable alarm that works to save your children from drowning by emitting a loud noise as soon as it is submerged in water that will not stop until a parent or other adult physically resets the system. The Safety Turtle system includes the wristband that is locked on your child's wrist with a provided key, ensuring that it is secure on your child's wrist. The tough wristband can withstand lots of play and won't activate just by splashing or rain. The base station plugs in anywhere, up to 100 feet away from your pool or other body of water.

I agree with Meghan on the public pool statement. I think, when in doubt, you should always keep as close to your kids as possible. Safety first, right? There are plenty of ways to make your home's pool safer and if you are interested in buying a pool be sure to check out NationWidePools.com as we always have some type of deal going on.
